Vietnam entrepreneurship programs women

Artistri Sud optimistic about running much-needed programs in Vietnam this year.

Vietnam Country Director Kristina Babic just got back yesterday from 3 days of meetings with women and community leaders in Dien Bien Phu, Vietnam.  The meetings and interviews are part of a needs assessment Artistri Sud is doing in partnership with An Chie Em, an NGO in the region which works with these women farmers, supporting them with small loans and technical skills.

Kristina was also collecting baseline data from 17 women in two villages in the area who want to participate in our upcoming program line-up, set for December 12-18 Hanoi.  We are scheduled to run our 2-day Leadership Program and the flagship Artistri Sud Social Entrepreneurship Training (ASSET) Program, and we’re excited to be running our Train-the-Trainers program for the first time in Vietnam—4 team members of An Chie Em will be learning to train the successful entrepreneurship program themselves.

The Vietnamese government recently resumed flights between a small group of countries, after closing its borders to international commercial travel on March 22 due to Covid-19, and welcomed its first commercial flight since on September 25. “We’re optimistic about running these trainings this year,” says Dr. Jennifer Lonergan, Executive Director.  “There are hopeful signs that things are opening up—we’re keeping our eye on the situation and exploring all our options.” As of October 8, Vietnam’s Ministry of Health confirmed a total of 1,099 cases of COVID-19; 1,023 of the affected patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals and 35 deaths have been recorded.
