Artistri Sud

Artistri Sud supports women’s empowerment around the world through entrepreneurship. By developing women’s capacity to leverage their existing assets for income-generation, we help women create sustainable livelihoods for themselves which empowers them to exert a positive influence in their families and their communities. We design and implement training programs to develop the skills they need to achieve sales and growth goals on a sustainable basis.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • In close collaboration with the Event Committee, the Award Chair ensures the planning and delivery of the recognition process from nomination to award-giving as part of a wider strategy to promote attendance at Tales of Triumph event and network-building for Artistri Sud;
  • Working with Event Committee Chair, ensures recruitment and management of: Chair, Selection Committee, Entrepreneur of the Year Awards
  • Working with Nominations Director, ensures there is a suitable pool of candidates nominated for:
    • Each of the 8 award categories.
    • Outstanding (male) Supporter of Women’s Entrepreneurship
    • Lifetime Achievement Award (LTA)
  • Liaises with Male Supporter and LTA winners as needed and to ensure attendance at event;
  • Does preliminary triage of nominations to ensure they meet basic criteria;
  • Ensures Selection committee Chair receives final packages of nominations by the deadline;
  • Oversees the work of the Selection Committee, ensuring deadlines and targets are met;
  • In collaboration with the Communications Director, creates guidelines for finalist speeches (eg, 30 seconds, best practices for public speaking, etc) to ensure quality and interest for the audience;
  • Ensures suitable awards are given out in a pleasing, well-choreographed manner at the event.
  • In collaboration with all other volunteers, ensures the achievement of sales targets for event;
  • Ensures continuous and transparent communication with Chair and other volunteers;
  • If needed, participate in other general discussions, such as special guests, etc.

General Description

The process of giving awards provides a means of raising awareness about women entrepreneurs both here and abroad, and the challenges and opportunities they face. As such, it represents an

opportunity to build Artistri Sud’s network and raise funds, in support of fundraising plans.

To meet our financial targets to carry out our mission, the Awards Chair must

  • Ensure a minimum number of nominees for each award;
  • Ensure Selection Committee members are willing and able to promote Artistri Sud through their networks, and through their attendance at the event with two or more guests;
  • Develop a post-event strategy for engaging award-winners

The Awards Chair demonstrates leadership through her positive attitude, her motivation and her creativity. She communicates respectfully by written and oral communications, at all times, with all volunteers and potential clients.

Annual Event Venue Coordinator Position

In collaboration with the Event Chair, this person will need to find the venue and then coordinate the entire evening with the chosen venue. This person will be in close contact with all the other teams to ensure they have what they need at the venue.

Annual Event Sponsorship Director

 Term August 1st, 2020 to March 30th, 2021

  • In collaboration with the communications team, initiate and deepen relationships with potential sponsors to fund and support financially the event;
  • Provide innovative ideas to showcase the sponsors;
  • Prepare post event sponsorship reports and thank you letter for participating sponsors;
  • Ensures the management of volunteers (if applicable);
  • Ensures continuous and transparent communication with Chair and other volunteers;
  • If needed, participate in other general discussions, such as special guests, etc.

  • Ensure the sponsor program meets the overall fundraising objectives.

The Sponsorship Director demonstrates good interpersonal skills, leadership through her positive attitude, her motivation and her creativity. She is comfortable in communicating with potential sponsors.                                                                                         

Annual Event Silent Auction and Raffle Coordinator

Roles and Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Board of Directors, take the lead on finding items for the Silent Auction and Raffle;
  • In collaboration with the communications team, provide innovative ideas for items to auction and raffle as well as creative ways to showcase them at the event;
  • Before the event;
    •  Make the silent auction sheets + have Jennifer and Event Chair validate them.
    • Ensure we have tickets to sell for Raffle
  • On the night of the event the Silent Auction & Raffle Coordinator is responsible for;
    • Setting up and ensuring the well-functioning of the Silent Auction and Raffle.
    • Manage the volunteers + ensure the raffle tickets start selling when the guests arrive.
    • Distribute products/certificates to the winners.
    • Manage payment of the Silent Auction and Raffle.
  • Following the event, ensure all winners made their payment + update the drive.
  • Ensures the management of volunteers (if applicable);
  • Ensures continuous and transparent communication with Chair and other volunteers;
  • If needed, participate in other general discussions, such as special guests, etc.

She communicates respectfully by written and oral communications, at all times, with all volunteers and potential clients.                                                                                                 

Annual Event Nomination Chair

 Term July 15, 2020 to April 1, 2021

 

Expected involvement

2h to 5h / week depending on the time of the year

April: 1 planning meeting

 N.B. Every committee member commits to selling 10 tickets. All Selection Committee Members are required to buy/sell 4 tickets, including their own.

  • In collaboration with all other volunteers, ensures the achievement of sales targets for event;
  • Ensures continuous and transparent communication with Chair and other volunteers;
  • If needed, participate in other general discussions, such as special guests, etc.

  • Represent the organization positively while maximizing opportunities to spread the word about its work
  • Assure that AS can leverage network-building and future fundraising opportunities by assuring a minimum number of quality nominations.
  • Together with the Awards Chair, develop a post-event strategy for engaging committee members and finalists.

Board of Directors 

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Artistri Sud’s effectiveness and efficiency rely on its nimble organization and committed members who constantly adapt to seize new opportunities in line with our mission and values. The Board of Directors consists of eight (8) volunteer directors responsible for defining the vision, mission, and strategic orientations of the organization, for developing policies, and for contributing to fundraising activities.

MANDATE TERMS
  • The mandate of each Director is for a duration of two (2) years and is renewable
  • The Board of director holds eight (8) meetings per year
  • The expected volunteer participation in the organization’s activities is approximately three (3) hours per week.

CANDIDATE PROFILES

The current call for applications concerns the following positions:
Philanthropic activities: the Director of Philanthropy will define a cohesive fundraising strategy to
cultivate and strengthen relationships with current and potential supporters.

Finance: The Director of Finance will be responsible for the preparation of the financial reporting
package, overseeing budgets and cash flow, and tracking financial metrics required to manage the
organization efficiently.

Communications and Marketing: The Director of Communications and Marketing will be responsible for
developing a strategy that supports the mission and strategic priorities of the organization and its
implementation through the Communications Committee.

Tales of Triumph (Annual Event) Committee

We are currently recruiting dynamic people for our annual event organizing committee! This is your chance to make a difference in Women’s lives in developing countries to fight poverty and build better lives!We are looking for volunteers for seven+ important roles. We encourage co-chairing, in case you have a friend who wants to share the role.

FILLED for 2020-2021: Communications Director

In collaboration with the Board of directors, this person will develop a strategy to and drum up excitement for the evening as well as expand the message to reach past, current and new audiences in order to increase attendance to Tales of Triumph. This person will be in close contact with all the other teams to ensure they have all the necessary information and communications material.

Sponsorship Director

In close collaboration with the Board of directors and the communications team, this person will develop a sponsorship strategy as well as provide innovative ideas to showcase these sponsors. Must be comfortable to identify and contact potential sponsors.

Silent Auction & Raffle Coordinator

In collaboration with the Board of directors and the communications team, this person will take the lead on finding items for the Silent Auction and the Raffle. You will need to provide innovative ideas for items to auction and raffle as well as creative ways to showcase them at the gala.

Chair of the Awards Committee

In collaboration with the Event committee, as well as the Nominations and Selection Committee Chairs, you will ensure the planning and delivery of the recognition (awards) process from nomination to award-giving as part of a wider strategy to promote attendance at Tales of Triumph event and network-building for Artistri Sud. You will ensure suitable candidates are nominated in each award category and recruit and oversee jurors to select final winners. You’ll take the lead on planning the ceremony at the event itself.

Nominations Chair

In collaboration with the Awards and Selection committees, you will identify excellent nominees in each category and provide a shortlist of recommendations for award-winners in each category to the Chair of Selection Committee. If needed, recruit team members to support with research and nominations.

 

FILLED for 2020-2021: Chair of Selection Committee

Together with the members of the Selection Committee, which you will have recruited (with the help of the board), you will make sure that excellent candidates are nominated in each award category, and will then follow up with them to ensure their attendance at the event.Members of Selection Committee (7-10) r eview nominees identified by the Nominations

Chair, and as appropriate, propose additions to the nominee list, rank nominees, and make a final selection in each category.

Venue Coordinator

In collaboration with the Event Chair, this person will need to find the venue and then coordinate the entire evening with the chosen venue. This person will be in close contact with all the other teams to ensure they have what they need at the venue.

Artistri Sud Measures Impact on Women’s Lives

40% of married women that contributed less than half of household income now bring in an equal amount or more

92% of women in the program reported an increase in their overall household income after completing the program

Women double their involvement in their community within one year of completing the program.

Graduates’ incomes increased by an average of 67% within one year.

The women in the program also create new jobs in their community, with an average of 2.3 jobs created post program

100% of women reported feeling more confident, included and successful after having completed the program
