Histoires de succès 2020 – Célébrer les femmes entrepreneures remarquables

 

Lors de son 9e événement annuel en l’honneur de la Journée internationale de la femme, Artistri Sud célébrera trois femmes remarquables et un mentor masculin de la communauté montréalaise qui illustrent l’engagement d’Artistri Sud à autonomiser les femmes à l’aide de l’entrepreneuriat (voir «En bref» ci-dessous pour plus de détails).

Deux de ces prix acceptent les nominations dès maintenant. Nous voulons honorer les femmes de notre communauté qui contribuent à l’autonomisation des femmes à l’aide de l’entrepreneuriat et qui utilisent leurs entreprises de manière innovante afin d’aider à résoudre des problèmes sociaux urgents. Nous encourageons la nomination de femmes décideuses qui ont un impact sur la communauté et qui, à l’aide d’un point de vue entrepreneurial, crééent des changements et sensibilisent la population à d’importants problèmes sociaux.

The Awards

Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award: In recognition of a remarkable woman who uses business to effect social change or achieve a social purpose. Nominees for this award can be entrepreneurs or leaders of for-profits whose primary purposes are social, or non-profits who are using innovative business solutions to pursue a social change objective.

Entrepreneur of the Year Award: An award irecognition of a remarkable woman entrepreneur. Nominees in this category should demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and be majority owners or leaders of businesses who have experienced good growth and have the potential for more.

The Lifetime Achievement Award: To recognize and promote a woman’s outstanding contribution in the field of entrepreneurship. This contribution may take the form of innovation, variety, success over time, improvement of the field, or other. Importantly, the contributions should be above and beyond the everyday and serve as an inspiration to other women in the sector.

Outstanding Male Supporter of Women’s Entrepreneurship: In recognition of a male leader who goes out of his way to support women’s entrepreneurship. Nominees should demonstrate leadership, inclusion and support of women in their business practices. 

 

The 2019 nomination period will run from January 7 to February 3.

 

Winners will be announced at the Tales of Triumph event on February 28, 2019.

 

Shortlisted candidates must purchase a ticket and be present at the awards in order to be eligible.

1. Entrepreneur of the Year

In recognition of a remarkable woman entrepreneur.  Applicants in this category should demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and be majority owners or leaders of businesses who have experienced good growth and have the potential for more.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Canadian resident living in the greater Montreal area
  • At least 51% ownership in company
  • In business for at least 1 year
  • Applicants must be 18 years and over.  Posthumous applications are not accepted.

Selection criteria
Applicants for the Entrepreneur of the Year should demonstrate:

  • Vision and passion: applicants must have energy, creativity, entrepreneurial purpose and passion.
  • Perseverance: applicants must have the confidence, conviction, tenacity, plan and overall professional acumen to take a high-potential business and scale it into a market leader.
  • Risk taking: applicants must show how in order to achieve they had to take risks and overcome obstacles
  • Growth and viability: applicants should have ambitious company growth goals and the maturity and level of business sophistication needed to interact effectively with potential investors, business advisors and executives.

2. Social Entrepreneur of the Year

In recognition of a remarkable woman using business or market-based strategies to effect social change through her business or achieve a social purpose. Applicants can be entrepreneurs or leaders of for-profits whose primary purposes are social, or non-profits who are using innovative business solutions to pursue a social change objective.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Canadian resident living in the greater Montreal area

Applicants for the Social Entrepreneur of the Year should demonstrate:

  • Innovation: the entrepreneur has brought about social change with an innovative product or service or a different approach.
  • Reach and scope: the initiative has spread and been successfully adapted to other settings.
  • Replicability: the initiative is adaptable and scalable, and the entrepreneur is open to sharing the tools and techniques for successful adaptation.
  • Sustainability: the entrepreneur needs to be dedicating all his / her time to the initiative, and the initiative itself generates its own funding. An eligible organization can be non- or for-profit, but will have clear differences from a traditional charity or a company that has profit as an end in itself.
  • Direct positive social impact: the entrepreneur has founded, developed and implemented the initiative directly, with poor or marginalised beneficiaries and stakeholders. The impact can be measured and should be well documented, with no significant negative externalities.
  • Role model: the entrepreneur should be a role model for future social entrepreneurs, with unquestionable integrity.

Application process

To apply for a remarkable woman entrepreneur award, please fill in the online form for entrepreneur of the year or social entrepreneur of the year before February 3, 2019 at midnight.

Candidates will be informed if they have been short-listed by February 14.

How are recipients selected

Selections will be made by a committee of experts with backgrounds in entrepreneurship, business, and social business and innovation. The winner will be announced at Tales of Triumph gala on February 28, 2019.

Criteria

All nominees must be residents of Canada and of the Montreal and environs area. Self nominations are accepted; posthumous nominations are not. Nominees should be leaders or majority owners of their organization.

Nominations are reviewed by our selection committee and finalists will be announced on February 27 at Tales of Triumph.

Shortlisted candidates must purchase a ticket and be present at the awards ceremony to receive their award.
