Rock Bands come together to support women’s empowerment and education around the world!
Montrealers from the West Island and beyond came together to support women’s empowerment and education on April 21st at a benefit rock concert event for Artistri Sud at The Pioneer Club.
A Rocker night
It was a social evening full of great music, a raffle, and performances by bands including Lee-La Baum from The Damn Truth, popular cover band songs by Run Betty Run, Chicago Blues, 60’s inspired songs by Posa Blue, the Indie and Lo-Fi alternative The Underground Divas, and finally one of Montreal’s favorites East of Sunday. The event drew in a crowd of about 50 people to enjoy a night to remember with great bands from Canada and managed to raise $1000 for Artistri Sud. This year, the proceeds will specifically go towards financing half of our upcoming training program in Vietnam later on this year and will transform the lives of 150 women in Northern Vietnam, their families and communities.
“We’re really excited to have a variety of events planned for 2018 to let more people know about Artistri Sud and how we educate women to get out of poverty,” said Artistri Sud Executive Director, Jennifer Lonergan. “We’re happy about the turnout– all the funds raised will go towards helping women earn a living.”
