Meet our selection committees for Tales of Triumph 2018!

Artistri Sud is pleased to have the following esteemed experts in the social entrepreneurship ecosystem who selected the winners for the Social Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneur of the Year award for Tales of Triumph 2018. We thank our selection committees for their time and hard-work! 

Social Entrepreneurship Selection Committee

 Joanne Photiades is a Manager, National Partnerships at BDC where connects unserved markets to customized finance and advisory services to accelerate Canadian entrepreneurs’ growth, including social entrepreneurs and triple bottom line companies. She is an accomplished finance professional with almost 20 years of commercial banking experience.  She has served as an advisor at MaRS, Canada’s Centre for Innovation & Impact, is an active member of Women Investing for Impact, and is a Founding Committee Member of BDC’s B Corp Team.

Nicole Wilson is a Senior Analyst, Responsible Investment at PSP Investments. She assesses the environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities of PSP Investments’ private and public market investments. Previously, Nicole spearheaded the development of a sustainability strategy at a Montreal-based transportation company.  She is dedicated to advancing women’s rights and inspiring women to reach their full potential as a member of TEDxMontrealWomen’s organizing team and 1st Vice President on the Board of the McGill Women’s Alumnae Association.   

Deborah Swann Hinton is a passionate relationship builder and connector of people and ideas; co-explorer and co-creator; learner and coach; facilitator and catalyst.  Helping her clients discover and achieve their own organizational greatness is what gets her up in the morning.  In addition to her own practice, Deborah collaborates with Phil Communication to bring over 30 years of experience in organizational development, change management, communications and strategy design to support social sector and mission- driven clients. 

Vani Jain is a Program Director at the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation.  She leads WellAhead, a national initiative focused on change in the K-12 education system. Prior to joining the Foundation, Vani spent seven years working in the mental health field in positions related to program development, public policy and communications. Outside of the mental health domain, Vani has worked with a consulting firm specializing in corporate social responsibility called Impakt and in medical education at McMaster University. 

Aminka Belvitt was born in Wakefield, Jamaica and raised in Kitchener, Ontario. She is a digital marketing consultant, innovator, advocate, mentor and speaker. She studied Public Administration & Political Science at the UOttawa then Public Policy & Public Affairs at Concordia University. She is the founder and CEO of Wofemtech Solutions, a virtual collective empowering women and girls worldwide through the connectivity of learning and technology. Aminka has received recognition for her work by Emma Watson, Global News Montreal, One Young World and UN Women.

Entrepreneur of the Year Selection Committee

Pina Marra has been working for more than 15 years in the financial industry as a Chartered Professional Accountant. In addition, she is currently studying to obtain her Master’s Degree in Innovation Management and working on developing a mobile application that will help educate children about financial literacy.  For more than 10 years with the McGill Women Alumnae Association, Pina has encouraged and motivated other young women to get involved in both professional and community organisations, and in decision-making roles in order to become agents of change.

Barbara Shore launched Shore & Associates, a legal and executive search firm more than 20 years ago, after an earlier career with KPMG in Ottawa and Montreal. Shore & Associates undertakes exclusive mandates to recruit specialized professionals and executives. Barbara and her team are recognized for uncompromised service, integrity and appreciation of their clients’ needs and work cultures. Barbara sits on several boards.  She was the Mentoring coordinator for the International Women’s Forum and helped coordinate the Mentoring Program for MBA students at McGill University.

Carol-Ann St. Onge has management experience that spans 3 industries by way of Customer service, Credit and Risk Management. With an academic background in industrial psychology and an MBA in Corporate Reengineering, the common thread in her career has been change management, especially in multicultural and multi-generational environments. She has spoken at several professional events on her favourite topic: “How to run a tight ship and have happy sailors”, “Managerial courage”. She has also joined Everwise’s network of online professional mentors via LinkedIn.


Fiona Macfarlane currently works with the McGill Desautels Faculty of Management Career Services team building employer relationships and supporting MBA students in developing and realizing their career goals.  Fiona has occupied leadership roles in operations; technology and marketing in  publishing. She is also the co-founder of WIFI:Women Investing For Impact, which examines the potential of impact investing by hosting regular speaker events, raising awareness and supporting the growth of the sector. Fiona has a BA and an MBA from McGill University.

Isabelle Huot is a doctor in nutrition and the expert in healthy eating in Quebec. Author, columnist and speaker, Ms. Huot is also a savvy businesswoman. In the media for 15 years, she took the leap to entrepreneurship in 2009, a first for nutritionists in Quebec. Her company Kilo Solution offers a wide range of healthy foods (meals and snacks), as well as wellness services through a team of experts: nutritionists, kinesiologists and psychologists specializing in eating behavior.


Jelena Neylan works at RBC PH&N Investment Counsel. She is also a Member of the Board of Fonds InnovExport, Quebec-based investment fund that fosters the new generation of Quebec entrepreneurs. Jelena is the Chair of the Board of SmartHalo, Montreal-based company that is improving the safety of urban cycling in over 70 cities worldwide. Jelena is actively involved in the Montreal startup community and in mentoring local entrepreneurs and founders of technology startups. She supports women innovators in many fields with financial guidance and strategic advice.

Monica Flores is Director and Lead of Corporate Affairs at Bristol-Myers Squibb Canada. She is also currently the worldwide Lead of the Innovation Lab within the BMS B-NOW women’s network.  Monica is passionate about helping the community and was a board member of Artistri Sud from 2016- 2017. She is currently a board member of AIESEC HEC, an international business students association. Monica holds an MBA from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) Montreal where she was previously a guest lecturer in International management.

Sabrina El-Chibini is the founder & President of The Collaboration Vector Inc., the originator of Transformative Community Involvement, which is inspiring reflection about how companies interact with their communities. Sabrina supports clients in transforming their community investment programs through engagement of internal and external stakeholders, alignment with the UN SDGs, and implementation of social and business impact plans and measures. Sabrina has extensive experience in the private, non-profit, and public sectors.

Zoonie Nguyen is the founder of a training company called Talentelle, dedicated to helping women succeed in their talent- and passion-based career or business. Her unstoppable faith and conviction in women’s potential and talent have driven her to expand the local training firm into an inspirational organization representing hope and empowerment for all women. In her conferences, seminars and workshops, Zoonie shares her insights on how women can leverage their passion, talent, and personal values in order to design and progressively achieve a fulfilling and successful career or business.
